B.L.W., Varanasi undertakes a Varity of welfare activities, important among these are:-
Education Facilities:
BLW administration runs 1 BLW Inter College from class- 06 to 12 BLW Women’s Welfare Organisation also runs a primary school Bal Niketan. BLW Township also possesses 1 Post Graduate Girl’s College, 2 Central Schools, 1 St. John’s school.
Medical Facilities:
105 bedded well-equipped Railway Hospital, a Health Unit and a First-Aid post in workshop provide comprehensive health care to around 20,000 Railway family members. A Homeopathic Clinic also available.
Railway Quarters:
A total of 3704 staff quarters (including bunglow) are provided to the BLW employees. The Railway colony is well maintained and green, providing excellent pollution free environment.
Compassionate Appointments:
Families of deceased employees are helped by the way of compassionate appointment to the wards.
Settlement Dues to retired employees and the families of the deceased employees:
Special attention at highest level is given to settle the dues of the retired employees and the families of the deceased employees.
Institute/Community Centre etc.:
For various social needs of the staff 1 Community Hall, 2 Institutes, 3 Barat Ghars, 1 Kalyan Kendra, 1 Rangshala , 1 Officers Club and 1 Staff Club are functioning on the premises.
Cinema Club:
For recreation of staff a Cinema Hall of around 690 capacity is functioning since 1967 in BLW.
Sports & Game:
All kinds of facilities for various games like Aquatics, Athletic, Two Indoor Badminton Court, Two Basketball Court with Flood Light, Health Club, Cricket Ground with Pavilion, Football Ground, Golf Course with 18 holes, Hockey Ground, Two Synthetic Lawn Tennis with Flood Light, Volleyball Court with Flood Light, Indoor Wrestling hall with two mat and one Akhara, Squash Hall and Handball Ground have been provided for the staff. Various Inter Railway Tournaments are regularly arranged in BLW premises.
